Course Description

This course introduces students to the dynamic processes of making public policy in the United States, including the detection of public issues, consideration of alternatives, and adoption and implementation of solutions, as well as the major governmental and non-governmental actors that play roles in policymaking.

For fall 2021, the course is built around Kingdon's Multiple Streams framework for understanding the key policy actors and processes, and is supplemented with a unit on policy design that enhances student's understanding of the policy stream.
